Nkosi remains behind bars after the Pretoria Magistrates Court refused him bail on charges linked to firearms and the discovery of police dockets at his home.

He spent eight days giving evidence before the Madlanga Commission, where allegations were made about his alleged ties to purported underworld figure Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala. Following his testimony, police raided his home and found seven firearms, state ammunition and police dockets.

On Thursday, the Madlanga Commission Investigative Task Team added another charge connected to a case in Thohoyandou.

The matter involved a suspect who had been arrested for possession of dagga, unlicensed firearms and explosives.

National police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe said Nkosi is facing charges of defeating the ends of justice.

“Investigations indicate that Sgt Nkosi fetched the original case docket under the pretext that he had been sent by Head Office.

“A few months later, he allegedly returned to Thohoyandou, identified himself as a Colonel from Head Office, and removed the confiscated dagga from police custody.”
