Siboniso Duma, the KwaZulu-Natal Transport MEC, is set to meet with the leaders of the All Truck Drivers Forum and Allied South Africa (ATDF-SA), whose members are on strike today.
The ATDF-SA, which represents truck drivers, has long expressed concerns about the hiring of foreign nationals in the freight and logistics industries.
They are also concerned about some employers who do not follow the minimum wage policy.

KZN Transport Department spokesperson Ndabezinhle Sibiya says, “We wish to indicate that yesterday we had an informal meeting with the leadership of All Truck Drivers Forum and Allied SA. Our belief as the department is that no issue is above the collective wisdom.”
Sibiya says, “A formal meeting is, therefore, being planned with ATDF-SA to discuss issues of mutual interest. This meeting is being coordinated by the Head of the Department, Siboniso Mbhele.
“Importantly, we are fully aware that matters that have been raised by truck drivers are managed by the national government as they relate to the employment of foreign truck drivers.”
