Suspended national police commissioner Fannie Masemola is expected to return to the Pretoria Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, where he will appear alongside alleged underworld figure Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala and 12 senior police officials.
The group faces allegations linked to a R228 million police tender involving Medicare24. Matlala is a director of the company at the centre of the case.
Masemola first appeared in court separately after being charged with contravening the Public Finance Management Act. He has denied any wrongdoing.
State Set To Consolidate High-Profile Tender Cases
On Wednesday, prosecutors are expected to formally combine Masemola’s matter with the case against Matlala and the 12 police officers.
The move would allow the State to pursue a single prosecution covering all accused in connection with the tender scandal.
The combined appearance is likely to draw significant attention, with the courtroom and dock expected to be filled for the proceedings.

The State has indicated that investigations are at an advanced stage.
Prosecutors may also present a more detailed charge sheet when the matter is heard in court.
Masemola maintains his innocence as the legal process continues.
