Errol Musk, the father of billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk, has defended his son’s role in U.S. government policies, specifically addressing his involvement in cost-cutting measures under President Donald Trump.

Speaking on SAfm radio, Errol emphasized that Elon’s primary focus is eliminating wasteful spending within the U.S. government, not politics or international aid programs.

Errol explained that although Elon is originally from South Africa, his frequent travels and busy schedule prevent him from engaging in political discussions.

“When he visits South Africa, we enjoy the countryside and the bushveld. We don’t discuss politics,” Errol shared, adding that he supports his son’s efforts to streamline government spending.

“It’s not the Americans’ fault people here have HIV or that they are struggling. Ordinary American workers are finding it difficult to get by while their hard-earned money is sent overseas,” Errol remarked.

He also noted that Elon had told him that only a small fraction of the U.S. aid to South Africa reaches its intended recipients, estimating that around 10% of the aid is used effectively.

Elon Musk Not Involved in Trump’s Refugee Offer to Afrikaners

One of the more pressing topics discussed was the executive order by U.S. President Donald Trump, which extended the offer of refugee status to Afrikaners in South Africa.

Errol Musk was quick to clarify that Elon had no involvement in this decision. “Elon’s not involved in that. That could be other people. His focus is on reducing government waste,” he explained.

Errol also touched on the difficult realities faced by South African farmers, particularly the high rates of violence experienced by white farmers.

“It’s terrible. White farmers are three times more likely to be killed than police officers. They live in constant fear,” he said, acknowledging the challenges Afrikaner farmers face.
