Former Miss South Africa contestant Chidimma Adetshina is now at the centre of a whirlwind scandal involving none other than her own mother.
The plot thickens as Anabela Rungo, Chidimma Adetshina’s not-so-law-abiding mother, was arrested over her alleged illegal stay in South Africa. And honey, things are getting real.
It was a regular Saturday when Home Affairs officials, joined by the South African Police Service (SAPS), swooped in like a team of secret agents to arrest Rungo at a property in Cape Town.

The twist? Rungo’s South African documentation was pulled back in September after authorities discovered it had been fraudulently obtained. Talk about a serious plot twist!
But wait, it gets even more dramatic. During the bust, investigators uncovered something even more shocking—Chidimma Adetshina’s underage child was living with Rungo at the property. Now, that’s a red flag of the highest order.
Authorities are seriously concerned about the child’s safety, and let’s just say, they aren’t letting this slide. In fact, Home Affairs is working closely with the Department of Social Development and the SAPS Child Protection Unit to make sure that little one is safe and sound.
Siya Qoza, the spokesperson for Home Affairs, wasn’t holding back in his statement, revealing just how deep the situation goes. “We’re not just dealing with an illegal stay here,” he said. “There’s also the safety of an underage child in the mix, and we won’t let that slide.”
The shady dealings don’t stop there. Rungo, who was allegedly using her Mozambican passport to dodge the system, is now being accused of flaunting her undesirable status like it’s no big deal.
Home Affairs is on the hunt, making it clear that they’re digging into potential further fraud. Yep, the investigation is very much ongoing, and it’s looking like this might turn into one of those scandals that just keeps on giving.
Chidimma Adetshina hasn’t made any public statement since the arrest was made.
