The lawyer representing one of the accused in the murder case of rapper Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes and his friend Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motsoane has come forward to defend her client against the accusations, stating that he is a businessman and not a murderer.
Siyanda Myeza, along with four others, appeared in the Durban Magistrates Court for the second time on Wednesday, facing charges of murder, attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and the unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.
The state has also added two new charges of money laundering.

Following the brief court proceedings, Yolanda Gielink, Myeza’s lawyer, spoke on behalf of her client, asserting that he is involved in the taxi business and has no direct connection to the killings.
Gielink emphasized that Myeza earns a sufficient income from his legitimate business and does not engage in hitman activities. She expressed frustration with the tendency to stereotype taxi owners as hitmen, especially in cases involving taxi violence.
“They are stereotyped; they are taxi owners. It doesn’t mean that they are hitmen, but every time there is taxi violence, apparently every single person that gets in the dock is a hitman. They are taxi owners, that’s all,” Gielink stated.
In a separate development, two other accused individuals appeared in a court in Eswatini on Tuesday for an extradition process to have them returned to South Africa.
As the legal proceedings continue, it remains to be seen how the defence will present their case and whether they can successfully challenge the allegations against their clients.
The court will ultimately determine the guilt or innocence of the accused in the AKA and Tibz murder case.
