Springboks flyhalf Handré Pollard is reportedly an injury concern ahead of Saturday’s second Test against the All Blacks in Cape Town.
The match is scheduled to kick off at 5.10pm, with South Africa needing a victory to keep their hopes of winning the four-Test series alive.
The All Blacks claimed a 33-16 victory over the Springboks at Ellis Park last weekend, putting South Africa under pressure heading into the second encounter. Two further Tests remain after Saturday’s match.
Pollard was named in the starting line-up on Monday, replacing Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu, who started at No 10 in the opening Test in Johannesburg.
Springboks Await Handré Pollard Fitness Update
According to Netwerk24, Pollard is now a major doubt for the second Test after reportedly suffering a calf injury.
The two-time Rugby World Cup winner is expected to undergo further assessment before a decision is made on his availability.

The Springboks could announce an update on Pollard’s condition on Friday, although the veteran flyhalf may be given until Saturday to prove that he is fit enough to play.
Who Could Replace Pollard Against The All Blacks?
If Pollard is ruled out, the Springboks have several options available to head coach Rassie Erasmus.
Feinberg-Mngomezulu could be promoted from the bench into the starting XV, while Manie Libbok is another option to take over at flyhalf without requiring further changes to the team.
Another possibility would see Damian Willemse move into the No 10 position, with Aphelele Fassi coming into the team at fullback.

The final decision could therefore depend on Pollard’s fitness assessment and whether the Springboks want to maintain the team structure announced earlier this week.
South Africa will need to respond strongly after their heavy defeat at Ellis Park, with Saturday’s Cape Town Test carrying added importance in their bid to turn the series around.
