A 50-year-old man is expected to appear in the Zastron Magistrate’s Court on a charge of rape after his wife allegedly reported that he sexually assaulted her at their home in Refeng-kgotso.

According to police, the 54-year-old woman said the incident happened at about 2am on Friday, 14 August 2026, while she was at home attending to clients as a sangoma.

The woman allegedly told police that her husband approached her and demanded to be intimate with her. She refused, saying she was busy working.

The suspect allegedly grabbed the woman and forced her into a room before undressing them both and sexually assaulting her without her consent.

Police said the man then went to bed and fell asleep after the alleged assault.

The woman later decided to report the matter to police, resulting in a rape case being opened.

The case is being investigated by the Smitfield Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit.

The suspect is expected to appear in the Zastron Magistrate’s Court soon.
