Police in Limpopo are searching for four men who allegedly disguised themselves as police officers during a violent farm robbery in the Morebeng policing area. The suspects reportedly wore police uniforms and reflective jackets while covering their faces during the attack on Thursday afternoon. Police said no arrests have been made.
The suspects arrived at the farm in the Capricorn District at about 1pm and approached an employee, asking about the whereabouts of his employer. According to police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, the employee became suspicious and tried to escape before one of the men allegedly threatened him with a firearm and tied him up.
The suspects reportedly remained at the farm for about three hours before the owner arrived with two employees. They allegedly confronted the group at gunpoint and demanded access to a safe.

Police said the farm owner was assaulted after initially telling the suspects that he did not have a safe. The suspects allegedly used a pick and sjambok to assault him before cutting his fingers with a sidecutter in an attempt to force him to reveal the location of the safe key.

The robbers eventually broke open the safe, according to police. They allegedly stole rifles, a pistol, ammunition, an undisclosed amount of cash, a bank card and four mobile phones.

The victims were allegedly tied up while the suspects demanded the keys to a vehicle. Police said one shot was allegedly fired during the incident.

The suspects then reportedly escaped in a white 1999 Toyota Hilux Double-Cab with registration number BHY 893 L. The four men remain unidentified and police have not made any arrests.
Police are appealing to anyone with information that could help identify the suspects or recover the stolen vehicle and firearms to come forward. Information can be given to investigating officer Sergeant Moraka Machaka on 072 276 5728 or reported to the nearest police station.
