The Nafiz Modack trial is set to return to the attempted murder of attorney William Booth on Wednesday as prosecutors continue their cross-examination of co-accused Toufeek Brown.
Brown is among 14 accused standing trial with Modack on charges that include murder, racketeering, fraud and money laundering.
The alleged Terrible Westsiders gang leader has denied knowing about his wife’s involvement in the shooting of Booth in 2020.

Kauthar Brown was one of three accused who entered into plea agreements with the State after admitting their roles in the attack.
Brown told the court that although he regularly communicated with his wife while he was in prison, she never told him about any plot to kill Booth.

During cross-examination, Brown was asked: “While she was calling you while you were inside, she was busy with illegal activities outside. I take it she didn’t tell you about those things?”
Brown responded: “She did not.”

Prosecutors are expected to continue testing that version when Brown’s cross-examination resumes.
The trial is continuing as the State presents its case against Modack and his co-accused over the various charges before the court.
