uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party Member of Parliament (MP) David Skosana has been suspended from parliamentary proceedings for 15 parliamentary days after being found guilty of breaching Parliament’s Code of Ethical Conduct and Disclosure of Members’ Interests. The sanctions include the loss of his salary and allowances for the duration of the suspension.
Parliament confirmed the disciplinary action on Wednesday, announcing that Skosana and National Coloured Congress (NCC) leader Fadiel Adams had both been sanctioned following separate findings by the Joint Committee on Ethics and Members’ Interests.
According to Parliament, the National Assembly adopted the committee’s recommendations on 11 June 2026, with the suspensions taking effect on 3 August after the Speaker formally notified both MPs of the implementation dates.
David Skosana Found Guilty Of Two Ethics Breaches
The David Skosana suspension follows findings in two separate ethics matters. In the first, the committee ruled that he failed to disclose his directorship in UVO Communications in the public section of Parliament’s Register of Members’ Interests, despite the company being identified in Auditor-General audit findings as a service provider.

For that breach, Skosana was reprimanded in the National Assembly and fined R15,000.
In the second matter, the committee found that Skosana verbally intimidated a Newzroom Afrika journalist following an interview conducted in Parliament. As a result, he was reprimanded, suspended from parliamentary debates and committee meetings for 15 parliamentary days, and had his salary and allowances reduced for the duration of the suspension.
Fadiel Adams Also Suspended By Parliament
Parliament confirmed that Fadiel Adams was sanctioned after publishing a Facebook post containing the personal contact details of a Democratic Alliance (DA) staff member. The post included a screenshot of an internal email and identified the staff member in relation to an objection to a parliamentary motion.
The committee concluded that Adams had improperly disclosed personal information. He was ordered to apologise to the House, reprimanded, suspended from parliamentary debates and committee meetings for 20 parliamentary days, and had his salary and allowances reduced for the same period.
Parliament said Adams will serve his suspension from 3 August to 28 August 2026, while Skosana’s suspension will run from 3 August to 21 August 2026.

Parliament said the disciplinary measures demonstrate its commitment to maintaining ethical standards among elected representatives. It said the Code of Ethical Conduct and Disclosure of Members’ Interests exists to protect the integrity, dignity and credibility of Parliament while strengthening public confidence in the institution.
The institution added that enforcing the sanctions reflects its commitment to ensuring all Members of Parliament are held accountable for breaches of the code.
