The newly appointed cabinet ministers in South Africa’s Government of National Unity (GNU) are reportedly working in synergy despite their varied political affiliations.

Since their appointment just over a month ago, the presidency has expressed satisfaction with the level of energy, enthusiasm, and commitment displayed by the ministers.

Presidential spokesperson Vincent Magwenya emphasized that President Cyril Ramaphosa is pleased with the ministers’ execution of their duties.

The unity among the ministers, appointed from seven of the ten political parties constituting the GNU, is notably strong. This unity is vital for the country’s progress, reiterated in recent cabinet meetings.

Magwenya addressed the media for the first time since the formation of the GNU, highlighting how the new ministers are cooperating to implement the priorities outlined in President Ramaphosa’s opening of parliament address.

He asserted, “We’ve had a good start to the seventh administration characterized by a great deal of energy, commitment, and focus on the task at hand, which is to take the country forward.”

Magwenya also pointed out the collaborative efforts across various departments on cross-cutting issues.

He reassured that there is no confusion regarding roles and responsibilities, as these are clearly delineated and guided by law. According to the presidency, this clarity and structured approach mitigate any potential tensions among the ministers.
