A 41-year-old man has been arrested in Yeoville, Johannesburg, in connection with a shocking incident at the Zanzou nightclub in Pretoria.
The arrest follows an investigation by the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD), who were on routine patrol when they identified the suspect from widely circulated social media videos.
After confirming his identity, the suspect was taken into custody and detained at a nearby police station.
Suspect Faces Multiple Allegations
The man now faces several grave charges, including compelled rape, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and crimen injuria.
These charges are linked to an incident at the Zanzou nightclub, and the suspect has been tied to two other cases reported at the Brooklyn Police Station.
Police Commissioner Praises Successful Operation
Gauteng Provincial Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Tommy Mthombeni commended the collaborative efforts that led to the arrest and hailed it as a breakthrough in the ongoing investigation.
“This arrest is a clear reflection of the police’s coordinated efforts to ensure the safety and security of the public,” said Mthombeni.

“It also highlights the importance of the Police Ministerial Cooperation Agreement, which aims to foster better collaboration among all law enforcement agencies in the region.”
The suspect is expected to appear in court on Monday, February 24, 2025, where his fate will be decided.
