A tragic accident on the N12 freeway near the Putfontein Road off-ramp in Daveyton claimed the lives of four pupils early Monday morning.

The collision, which occurred just before 8 a.m., involved a bakkie and a car. The devastating crash has left the community in shock as authorities continue their efforts to manage the aftermath.

Critical Condition and Ongoing Rescue Operations

As of the latest update, five individuals remain in critical condition, with one adult woman requiring urgent extraction from the wreckage.

Traffic Chaos and Safety Warnings

In the wake of the accident, the N12 freeway has been blocked off, causing significant traffic disruptions.

Motorists are being urged to avoid the area and take alternative routes, such as the Kingsway or Etwatwa off-ramps toward N12 Benoni.
