Postbank has been gradually replacing the SASSA Gold Cards with the new Black Cards since September 2024, with the final payment cycle made using the gold cards last week.
Enhanced Security and Faster Access with New Black Cards
Postbank CEO Nikki Mbengashe highlighted that the new black cards offer enhanced security features, including biometric authentication and stronger encryption, providing faster access to grant payments.
Beneficiaries who haven’t yet swapped their cards are urged to visit their nearest Postbank site, often located in retailers such as Checkers, Shoprite, Pick n Pay, Usave, and Boxer, to get their new black cards before the February 28 deadline.
After this date, all SASSA Gold Cards will become inactive, regardless of the expiry date.
