The North Gauteng High Court has postponed the R1.8 billion corruption trial against former Correctional Services boss Linda Mti for a pretrial conference. The case, which has garnered significant public interest, will see its next legal proceedings on August 7, 2024.
Linda Mti stands charged alongside former Correctional Service Chief Financial Officer Patrick Gillingham and former Bosasa Group Chief Financial Officer Andries van Tonder.
They face accusations of fraud, conspiracy to commit fraud, corruption, and money laundering. The charges pertain to four tenders allegedly awarded to Bosasa and its subsidiaries from August 2004 to 2007, amounting to over R1.8 billion.

Angelo Agrizzi, Bosasa’s former Chief Operations Officer, is also implicated in this case. However, due to his ill health, his case has been separated from the main proceedings. Agrizzi attended the session virtually, and his pretrial date is also set for August 7, 2024.
The Zondo Judicial Commission of Inquiry into allegations of state capture revealed alarming findings against Bosasa. According to the commission, Bosasa bribed politicians and government officials with cash, houses, and cars.
The company also paid R2.2 million for Gillingham’s divorce settlement.
Acting Chief Justice Raymond Zondo noted that Bosasa secured contracts worth at least R2.3 billion from public departments and entities between 2000 and 2016, utilizing R75 million to pay bribes to ANC politicians, former Post Office senior executives, Gillingham, and Mti.
The upcoming pretrial conference in August 2024 will be a critical step in the R1.8 billion corruption case against Linda Mti and his co-accused. As the legal process unfolds, the public and legal experts will be closely watching for further developments.
