The police have apprehended four suspected gang members in connection with the murder of a woman in Durban. The victim’s lifeless body, riddled with bullet wounds, was discovered in a car parked at the John Dory’s Sports ground in the Newlands East area on Monday morning.
The arrests were made as part of ongoing operations conducted by the SAPS Newlands detectives and the Hawks, who are responsible for investigating priority crimes.
According to Colonel Robert Netshiunda, the KZN provincial police spokesperson, the suspects are believed to be members of a notorious gang involved in various criminal activities, including murder, robbery, and gang-related incidents.

This operation marks a significant step forward in curbing the influence and activities of these dangerous individuals. Netshiunda also stated that the investigation is ongoing, indicating that further arrests and progress can be expected.
The 24-year-old victim was found dead in the driver’s seat of the vehicle, and paramedics from ALS Paramedics were called to the scene.
Garrith Jamieson, spokesperson for ALS Paramedics, confirmed that the woman had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and, sadly, could not be saved despite the efforts of the medical team. Her tragic death serves as a stark reminder of the violence and danger that lurks within certain communities.
In addition to this case, the police are actively pursuing suspects involved in another drive-by shooting in the Newlands area. Three individuals lost their lives in that incident, and seven others were injured.
According to law enforcement officials, the shooting is believed to be linked to taxi violence, highlighting the ongoing challenges faced by authorities in tackling organized crime and maintaining public safety.
