The Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) in the Western Cape has postponed its scheduled media briefing, leading to significant controversy.
This decision came amid accusations from the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) and the National Coloured Congress (NCC) regarding alleged voting irregularities.
With over 90% of the votes in the province already captured, the IEC had planned a media briefing for 8 p.m. However, this briefing was postponed until Saturday.

The IEC has not provided a detailed explanation for the postponement, which has only fueled the suspicions and accusations from the EFF and NCC.
Following the postponement, irate members of the EFF and NCC accused the IEC of manipulating the election results.
The EFF’s Unathi Ntame claimed that the party had identified multiple cases of electoral fraud, including an incident where 100 of their votes were allegedly not captured. Ntame stated, “We have raised issues with facts. Remember, during the day, the EFF, they stole one hundred votes.”
Echoing the EFF’s concerns, the NCC’s provincial chair, Dawayne Jacobs, also expressed dissatisfaction with the voting process. Jacobs indicated that the NCC had taken steps to file formal complaints regarding the alleged irregularities.
