A devastating incident has occurred at Mandlethu Primary School in Tsakane, East of Johannesburg, where a grade 1 learner tragically lost her life after allegedly consuming biscuits purchased from a local spaza shop.

The Gauteng Education Department has expressed its condolences to the family and is working closely with the authorities to investigate the circumstances surrounding this heartbreaking incident.

According to reports, the Grade 1 Learner started feeling unwell just before lunchtime on Tuesday. Concerned teachers immediately contacted the learner’s parents, who confirmed that she had indeed consumed snacks from a nearby store.
