The death toll from the devastating bus crash on the N2 in Mandeni, KwaZulu-Natal, has tragically increased to nine.
The incident, which occurred yesterday afternoon, has left the local community in shock and mourning. Among those killed was a four-year-old child.
More Than 60 Passengers Injured As Death Toll Rises
In addition to the fatalities, over 60 passengers sustained varying degrees of injuries. Ranging from critical to minor, these injuries have left many families in distress as they await news of their loved ones.
Emergency services rushed to the scene, working tirelessly for hours to extract some of the victims from the wreckage, ensuring they received immediate medical attention.
Bus Was Transporting Church Members When Disaster Struck
The bus carrying members of the Twelve Apostles in Trinity Church was travelling from Richards Bay to Shaka’s Kraal near KwaDukuza when the tyre reportedly burst.
This caused the vehicle to crash down an embankment, leading to the fatal incident.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the cause of the crash while local residents come to terms with the tragedy mostly as the death toll rises.
