The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) are in third place with just under 500,000 votes. The tight race between the ANC and DA highlights the competitive nature of this election.
According to Thabo Masemola, the IEC’s Provincial Electoral Officer in Gauteng, the commission is at the final stages of collating the results.
He stated, “We are indeed at the tail end of the coalition of results, there are one or two exceptions and we are chasing the scanning of the results into the system.”
The auditors are currently auditing the final results to ensure accuracy before they are officially recorded.
