The tragic case of the Kabe murders, which claimed the lives of three adults and a one-year-old boy in 2019, has resurfaced with the upcoming bail application of the accused. The case continues to evoke strong emotions among the victims’ families and the community.

The victims, Yvonne Setshego (28), her one-year-old son Keamogetse, and Witness Dokky Motsamai (45), were brutally murdered, and their bodies were allegedly disposed of in pit toilets.

The recent arrest of the fifth suspect, John Motsamai, has led to the formal bail application scheduled to take place at the Molopo Magistrate’s Court on Thursday. His co-accused, Mmapula Seletedi, Lesego Seletedi, Lerato Molefe, and Goitseone Seletedi, were apprehended two weeks prior.

Family representative Ernest Sekao has expressed mixed emotions regarding the developments. While the family acknowledges the progress in the case, they remain deeply affected by the resurfacing of painful memories.

Sekao stated, “We are still hurt because while we thought we were in a healing process, they bring the old scars again. They just recovered a baby on Friday inside a toilet that we use not knowing there is a child inside. This thing hurts us so we want the accused not to get bail.”

The Kabe murders have left an indelible mark on the local community. As the bail hearing approaches, the community stands in solidarity with the victims’ families, calling for justice and the denial of bail to the accused.

The case continues to highlight the need for stringent measures to prevent such heinous crimes and ensure the safety and well-being of all community members.

The upcoming bail hearing will be a critical moment in this ongoing case, and its outcome will significantly impact the victims’ families and the community at large.
