Former Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC) head Andrea Johnson could soon find herself back before the Madlanga Commission after fresh allegations were made against her by a former colleague.
The development comes just one day after Johnson wrapped up six days of testimony before the commission, with evidence leaders confirming that she will be issued with a Rule 3 notice to respond to the latest claims.
A Rule 3 notice allows anyone implicated during the commission’s proceedings an opportunity to answer allegations either by submitting a written affidavit or by appearing before the commission.
Madlanga Commission To Issue Rule 3 Notice To Andrea Johnson
Evidence leader Lee Seegels-Ncube confirmed that Johnson would be required to respond to allegations raised by former IDAC prosecutor Drushanta Ramsamy during her testimony on Thursday.
According to Ramsamy, she repeatedly reported concerns about procedural irregularities linked to several high-profile prosecutions, but Johnson allegedly failed to take action.
Seegels-Ncube explained that the commission only became aware of the allegations after Johnson had already completed her evidence.

“We did not have this information prior to Advocate Johnson giving her evidence. It only became known to us during her evidence. The intention is to serve a Rule 3 notice on Advocate Johnson to address these allegations, and that will be done during the course of today and tomorrow.”

Ramsamy also alleged that Johnson was unreliable in her decision-making and would frequently reverse positions on matters that had already been decided.

Her testimony forms part of the commission’s ongoing inquiry into allegations relating to the conduct and operations of the former Investigating Directorate Against Corruption.
With the Rule 3 notice expected to be served, Johnson will now have an opportunity to formally respond to the new allegations before the commission.
