South African veteran actor Sello Maake Kancube and his wife, Pearl, have been in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons.
The couple reportedly engaged in a serious altercation at a hotel during the Grahamstown Arts Festival in the Eastern Cape. What was supposed to be a celebration of the arts turned into a dramatic scene from a soap opera.
According to sources, the altercation escalated to the point where Pearl was left with visible injuries. “Pearl was screaming and swearing at Sello. The next morning, she appeared with a black eye and broken lips,” a source said.

The situation was so dire that Sello left Pearl behind at the hotel, forcing her to find her way back to Johannesburg while nursing her injuries.
Rumours have been swirling around Sello Maake Kancube and Pearl’s marriage for months, with whispers of divorce and reconciliation making the rounds. One source claimed that Sello feels trapped in the marriage, suggesting that Pearl has leverage over him.
“That man feels trapped in that marriage because Pearl knows a lot about him and she has people who will always clean her image while portraying him as a villain,” the source added.
