Ngizwe Mchunu’s third wife, Floda Graé, has recently ended her marriage of 8 years and is ready to focus on her life and music career. However, what makes this separation particularly intriguing is Graé’s claim that the entire relationship was built on a foundation of lies.
Graé reveals that she had known Mchunu since she was just eight years old, as he was a family friend. It wasn’t until many years later, when she was 16, that he made his move on her. According to the musician, Mchunu tricked her into marriage, taking advantage of the 10-year age gap between them.
She explains, “My family didn’t know [that he was courting me], and I didn’t tell them because I, too, did not understand what was happening. I just thought we were having conversations.”

Graé trusted Mchunu because she had known him since she was young, which made the deception even more hurtful.
She firmly states, “The whole relationship was a lie, and I’m glad it’s ended. I didn’t even have the desire to hear his explanation. I just shut down… Even when the relationship continued, I was just like ‘Urg! What’s the point because you lied from the beginning?’ The whole relationship was a lie from the very beginning, so it was just useless for me.”
Graé also reveals that she was never informed about Mchunu’s polygamous lifestyle, which she describes as messy. She claims that this information was intentionally kept from her, and had she known, she would never have agreed to the marriage in the first place.
While it is unfortunate that Graé had to go through such deception and heartbreak, her decision to leave the relationship and focus on her own life and career is commendable. Sometimes, it takes a painful experience to realize that we deserve better and that we should prioritize our happiness.
As for Ngizwe, his actions raise questions about honesty, trust, and respect within a relationship. Both partners need to be transparent and open about their intentions and lifestyles from the beginning. Deception can only lead to pain and resentment.
