A gangster who was out on bail has been arrested in connection with the killing of two Anti-Gang Unit police officers and two civilian women in Reiger Park.
The breakthrough came after a multidisciplinary police team carried out a tracing operation over the weekend, eventually recovering two R5 rifles belonging to the slain South African Police Service (SAPS) members.
The firearms were found at the KwaDukathole Informal Settlement in Germiston on Sunday, 9 August 2026, as investigators continued tracking suspects allegedly linked to the killings.
Gangster Out On Bail Arrested In Reiger Park Murder Investigation
The suspect is reportedly a known gangster who was out on bail while facing several outstanding cases before court.
These include two murder charges, two attempted murder charges and a charge relating to the possession of an unlicensed firearm.
The arrest follows an operation involving the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation’s (DPCI) Serious Organised Crime Investigation, PRASA, Gauteng Crime Intelligence Tactical and Special Operations, the Provincial Tracking Team, Tactical Response Team and the Anti-Gang Unit.
The team spent the weekend tracing people allegedly involved in the murders of Constables Tlomatsana and Sibeko and the two civilian women.
Two R5 Rifles Stolen From Slain SAPS Officers Recovered
Police said the two R5 rifles were recovered during the tracing operation at KwaDukathole Informal Settlement.
The firearms allegedly belonged to the two Anti-Gang Unit members who were killed in Reiger Park.

The officers were part of a crime-prevention team when they heard gunshots in the area. They drove towards the source of the shooting but were allegedly ambushed and fatally shot.
Two civilian women were also killed during the attack.
Police Warn Of More Arrests In Reiger Park Killings
Acting National Head Lieutenant General Sphesihle Nkosi conveyed his condolences to the families, friends and colleagues of the slain officers.
Nkosi said the arrest and recovery of the R5 rifles demonstrate that SAPS will relentlessly pursue those who target police officers and communities.
The investigation remains ongoing, with police continuing to trace other people allegedly involved in the killings.

SAPS and the DPCI said they remain committed to dismantling criminal networks, removing illegal firearms from communities and ensuring that those who attack police officers are brought to justice.
Police have not ruled out the possibility of further arrests as the investigation continues.
